A customer called AT&T concerning the issue of not being able to SMS an email address.
(The Blackberry Pearl 8110 doesn't allow the @ simple in the phone number field.)
Many cheaper non PDA phones allow you to send emails through SMS.
To be able to send emails on the Blackberry Pearl the most logical to do would be to buy a data plan which is $30 extra per month.
Why should he pay more to do what simpler phones can do for free with unlimited texting?
That's like buying a supercomputer that doesn't have a calculator.
